REGINA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MASTER PLAN

As part of a project team, led by Pryde Schropp McComb Inc., our firm was involved with the development of an updated master plan for the Regina International Airport. Our work was centred on the "groundside" aspect of the airport.

Analysis was performed to identify opportunities for additional commercial development at the airport. Constraints to this development were considered. Maintaining the presence and image of the airport terminal became a major factor in the development of the Groundside Plan. Existing terminal approach was to be maintained and reinforced by segregation of commercial developments and through appropriate landscape treatment.

Areas of commercial development were identified while densities and development guidelines were developed.

All proposed planning had to be considered within the context of an international airport. This required analysis of height restrictions, noise contours, and wildlife habitat, to name a few. The main focus of an airport is air travel, therefore development within the adjacent lands must be respectful of this function.
